Maine Trades Directory (mainetradesdirectory.com) is a local business directory for Maine tradespeople and service providers. It is operated by Jeremy Lizzotte in Waterville, Maine.

What We Collect

From visitors:

• Contact form: Name, business name, email, phone (optional), and message
• Lead/quote requests: Name, email, phone, town, and project description
• Analytics: Anonymous usage data via Google Analytics (pages visited, device type, general location)

From business owners:

• Listing submission: Business name, category, phone, email, website, town, description
• Claim requests: Name, email, phone, and verification notes
• Account info: Email and hashed password for listing management

How We Use Your Information

• To display business listings publicly on the directory
• To deliver lead/quote requests to the appropriate business
• To respond to contact form messages
• To send business owners account-related emails (welcome, claim verification)
• To understand site traffic and improve the directory

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties.

Public Business Information

Business listings — including business name, phone number, address, town, category, ratings, and website — are displayed publicly on the site. This is the core function of the directory. Business owner email addresses are never displayed publicly.

Cookies

We use cookies through Google Analytics to understand site traffic. These are standard analytics cookies and do not contain personal information. You can disable cookies in your browser settings at any time.

Third-Party Services

• Google Maps / Places: Business location data and ratings
• Resend: Transactional email delivery
• Stripe: Payment processing for business upgrades (we do not store credit card numbers)

Data Security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Passwords are hashed using bcrypt. We take reasonable measures to protect your information, but no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.

Data Retention

Business listings remain on the site until removed by the business owner or our team. Contact form submissions and lead requests are retained in our systems. You can request deletion of your data at any time.

Your Rights

• Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction or deletion of your data
• Remove or update your business listing at any time via your dashboard
• Opt out of analytics tracking via your browser settings

Children's Privacy

This site is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
